Dr. Raja Ramachandran

MBBS, MD, DM (Nephrology) — Additional Professor, Department of Nephrology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh

Dr. Raja Ramachandran is a faculty member in the Department of Nephrology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, one of India's foremost academic medical institutions. He is a prolific clinician-researcher with a substantial body of peer-reviewed work spanning complex glomerular disease, rare and immune-mediated kidney disorders, monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance, and kidney transplantation — work that has earned him a strong reputation for the depth and rigour of his clinical research.

His contributions to thrombotic microangiopathy — the pathological process at the heart of atypical HUS — sit at the more complex end of the field. He has authored work on systemic TMA in the context of ANCA-associated vasculitis and on the impact of TMA on outcomes in patients with lupus nephritis, including the role of plasma exchange — territory that overlaps directly with the diagnostic and management challenges of aHUS, particularly in its secondary and complement-mediated forms. For the Foundation, his academic voice and his standing in North India bring authority to our work and strengthen our connection with the research community.
