Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Bagga
MD, FAMS, FIAP, FISN — Director, Paediatrics & Senior Consultant, Paediatric Nephrology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi
Prof. Arvind Bagga is among the most distinguished paediatric nephrologists in India. Across a career marked by years of academic and clinical leadership at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi — and now in his role as Director of Paediatrics and Senior Consultant at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals — he has shaped the field of paediatric kidney disease in this country and trained a generation of physicians who carry that work forward. He is widely recognised for his contributions to nephrotic syndrome, acute kidney injury and clinical research, and has played a central role in shaping the national guidelines that guide the care of children with kidney disease.
For the Foundation, his stature in atypical HUS is unmatched in India. He has led the body of research that established anti-factor H antibody-associated aHUS as the dominant form of aHUS in Indian children — a finding that has fundamentally changed how the disease is diagnosed and treated here and that continues to influence international understanding. His sustained work on the genetics, immunology and management of paediatric aHUS, including abbreviated plasma-exchange protocols developed for settings where eculizumab access is limited, places him at the very heart of what the Foundation seeks to advance for patients.
